I got given a Rapidor Power hacksaw with a broken Bow,
I was going to braze it but then after reading the arc welding section, welding seemed the better option. Got on ebay and ordered the cast rods and v'd back the joint.
got going with my Aldi inverter and the cast iron rods.
I'm pleased the photo is blurred because the weld "didn't look pretty but it is strong".
Peened the weld as it cooled and there was no sign of any cracking. Then ground it back with an angle grinder and filed it smooth.
fitted the blade and put it under tension.
I'm going to leave it under tension overnight and hope it doesn't fall apart by morning.
