In another post I read on here a man is replacing Capacitors in his Mig.
I did not want to hijack his post with my questions so am starting this thread.
My question is, are the caps in our mig welders in series with the output
or are they placed across the torch and ground / work clamp.
Also, are they DC and simply there to smooth out ripple, other than in
some cases extra caps are added to create a third phase before
rectification.
It would be nice to know what is going on under the hood as I do not
want to open up a welder just to test out my theories, bad enough having
to open them when something goes wrong.
