Hi everyone Im new to this site and sort of new to welding.I did some repairs to my car about 30 years ago and have now taken on another project.
I have bought a second hand snap on 130 turbo mig welder and a new auto darkening helmet (great new gadget that),and it all seems in order.I have set up wire speed to about 200 ipm, with a small bottle co2 gas 1&1/2 turns out on regulator so I can hear the gas at nozzle, and with machine set on the lowest of six power settings it still seems very powerful welding 0.8 mm mild steel. The build up on the reverse side is usually at least 50% of whats on top.
I know I need to practice and re learn again but I never remember it was like this.Even with the wire speed reduced to about a quarter of a turn from zero it is still powerfull.I first used an SIP mig 130 which I found great even though it doesnt seen to be that rated, which is why I chose this snap on.
Any advice or tips would be welcome as I dont fancy burning too many holes in my beloved classic.
