Firstly, hi all! I'm getting a bit desperate at the moment. I'm working at a factory, a simple assembly (mind-numbing) job, but I always wanted to learn a trade. I just recently moved to the UK and thought about putting my hands on welding. I'd like to start somewhere, but I get mixed feelings from what I've read on the Internet.
Some people say it's nearly impossible to get a welding job without experience and others say that there is a lack of welders in the UK (some articles on the news that I've read).
Now what I wanted to do is to attend a course that I found here:
http://www.hlcollege.ac.uk/Courses/pt-welding-intro.html
and my question is: is that really enough time to learn anything at all? Would somebody consider hiring me after a course like this? It's only 3 days! Of course, after that I would like to move to level 2 and learn other techniques etc., but I can't afford to do that all at once. However, Level 2 is also only 3 days long!
Is that the way I should pursue? I'm 25 atm, recently got my first real job and I've only got a useless degree from a foreign country.
