I noticed a few really good variations on the portable wood fired pizza oven at some of the outdoor events I have been to lately. Basic arrangement will be something like...
...only not from stainless and not quite so aesthetically pleasing! I will probably forgo the door on the front and make the whole thing a little wider with a taller base like the ones I saw at the Glade pizza place at Glasto this year.
I had thought about lining the bottom with firebricks although I am pretty sure both of the ones I was admiring just had a steel base.
Trying to think of a source of fairly thin(ish) cheap pipes etc for the stovepipe? I will probably make the rest out of 1.5mm ish plate if that will be thick enough?
Just trying to brainstorm drawbacks really and get a feel for materials others have used.
The missus wants to try to build an actual brick oven out of wattle and daub or cob or something; if previous brickwork attempts of mine are anything to go by then that plan is immediately out the window! I doubt I will be building a self supporting dome out of gooey stuff tbh, in any case I am impatient and it looks like those take a long time to do properly.
As with many of life's problems the solution can be found with welding!
Probably a bit of an ambitious project, perhaps I should begin with an oil drum smoker or something first!
