Hi ! to all I am a new member but have been looking for a while, I am a hobby welder and would like to ask a question please.
I have a Clarke 160T and it was not welding very well, I replaced the earth lead to a good quality one and fitted the dinse ? socket but this did not work, a friend told me to check the diodes so I striped the rectifier and checked the diodes and found them to be good. When I reassembled the rectifier I had one plate round the wrong way and when I tried it the wire speed would not work. I have since fitted a brand new rectifier and a new off / on switch, I sent the wire speed board away for repair and that come back ok but still no volts to the motor.
I now have a brand new wire speed board but before I fit it I would like to ask a question.
What damage might I have done buy putting the diodes round the wrong way and how do I check?.
Look forward to the replies and thank you all
