I have had this lathe for a few years now but wondered if there is something missing.
Underneath the carriage at the back end there is a cast iron bar that holds it down. The bar slides along under the bed as the carriage moves along the ways and is screwed up into the carriage with 2 machine screws. The screws were only finger tight and if I tighten them with an allen key it locks up the carriage, I have found that if I fit a 40 thou washers between the bar and the carriage it slides nicely without being slack. This is how I have left it now with the washers allowing the carriage to slide with the screws tight, is this right?
