I did think to take a picture of mine this morning, perhaps at the weekend along side the insulated terminal crimps... and a rogues gallery of all the supposed crimps on wire strippers which usually don't work.So who's going to start a "show us your crimpers" thread then?

HOOOOOWWWWWW much?!?!??!!!!I've been using a Weidmuller crimp tool for 20+ years, put many thousands of ferrules on and still going strong

I’ve done the side cutter trick then put the ferrule into a terminal that had a pressure bar/pad on the screw, think like the terminals in an mcb. the lack of a direct screw pressure point and the even pressure of the clamp in the mcb resulted in a far from satisfactory crimping of the bootlace ferrule. So does the screw in the terminal, why is it better?
Edit, I understand it holds the strands together, in stead in riding up the sides of the screw
If I have to use side cutters in an emergency I will nip them half a dozen times along the length of the crimp. It’s never great (certainly not as good as a proper set of crimpers) but it’s probably better than not using a crimp at all.I’ve done the side cutter trick then put the ferrule into a terminal that had a pressure bar/pad on the screw, think like the terminals in an mcb. the lack of a direct screw pressure point and the even pressure of the clamp in the mcb resulted in a far from satisfactory crimping of the bootlace ferrule.

I use a CK 30029 for the ferrules on control and audio cables into phoenix connectors it goes up to 6mm2. The ferrules I get from CPC Farnel, I've never tried ferrules from ebay but how much is there to go wrong not a lot I think.
Any chance of a link to the crimper & crimps? There is too much choice on ebay, I want to get stuff that actually works!
I try to buy tools etc from a British supplier where possible so if there is a problem they can go back with less of a faff. Can probably be had for less but I have this thing about using our suppliers where possible even if the goods do come from abroad.
