OK, I'm starting to get confused - well, even more confused...
I should have the new-to-me TIG up and running in the next couple of weeks (a few odds n sods to sort still, gas to obtain), I expect to waste a lot of gas and filler rods after nearly 40 years out of practice, just trying to remember what I've forgotten - like what's a good selection for the beginner/incredibly-rusty?
For mild/carbon A-something - what are the different grades about?
For stainless 316L, 309L for dissimilar (what does the "L" tell me?)
For aluminium 4043 for 6000 series (e.g. drawn tube?) and 5356 for more or less everything else?
Maybe some phosphor bronze for messing about with cast iron?
I don't see that I'll be going over 200A on anything for a while (phase converter limits the current I can pull), will I need anything other than 1.6mm rods at first?
Thanks,
Dave H. (the other one)
