Battery for Mk1 Escort

Guys. Mk1 running pinto on 45s, electric fuel pump, and 2x 100w cibies, battery in boot, otherwise just standard lighting as per O/E. What size battery and Alt??

50 odd amp will be fine on that, the small jap ones are very reliable and easy to mount and wire, Nippon Denso
As for battery I've used Optimas for years and never been let down

X2 with Langy, I have a couple of Optima batteries, one red top and one blue top.Had them both ` very long time and they are both still going strong,Bit pricy, but you get what you pay for,Shop around, I got both of mine well below list.

Not being an electrical type of person, would you run an engine earth or just ground the engine to chassis.

Always best to run an earth direct from battery to engine as well as from battery to body/chassis !

If the connection is clean and good you can ground the engine to the chassis Nick but i'm pretty sure Escorts had an earth lead from battery to engine.

Take it from one of the starter motor bell housing bolts while you are at it.
