Sign of the times I guess.want it doing properly do it yourself lol.they left you with what looks like mig wire to use for your repairtrusted the local garage who I have used for years to repair a corroded body mount on my Navara Truck.
they didnt manage to do it on a Friday so did it Saturday morning. It lasted until I went to the yard to feed the horses saturday teatime, heard a cracking noise.
Ended up doing it myself which is what I should have done in the first place. took me a full day as access was fairly tight. ended up with an 8 inch disc in a 4 1/2 inch grinder to chop the remains of the old bracked off the chassis. it won't go again..
Needless to say the garage has lost a customer

I'm guessing people don't like to cut the rust out before patching because they don't want to be aware of whats underneath. It is very annoying because the rust just eats the patch from behind and then eventually the patch just falls off! Personally I would have thought it's better to cut back to good steel and then patch....how else do you know whether you are just welding to rust!

No, but that outer rear sill section is classic to rot out as it slowly fills up with crud over time, and over here its not prescribed as the sprinter has a proper chassis so its just classed as cosmetic. My lwb sprinter is currently sat in the yard with both its outer wings cut off behind the rear wheel, and two shiny replacement panels waiting for me to get time to weld them on. For the price of repair panels, its not worth trying to patch whats there.I see a few sprinters about that just look like rust buckets, Did they do a few years with no primer?
