all my jobs in workshop and at work make it up as u go alongSo I was making a box to put my dividing head in and I was thinking I very very rarely sketch/draw up any kind of plan and just let it flow so to speak 95% of jobs work out ok some need a rethink .
So do you guys draw up plans or just go with it ??
I have a plan but it's all in my head, inc measurements etc - and it usually all works out. Can't think why I bothered with putting a whiteboard up in the shed, really
Always mate. There's always something that I'd do different at the end of a job.trouble is with making something when its finished and working u look at it and could make an improvement on it even if it works well
tried various 2d 3d cad over the years. My trusty drawing board is always my first port of call. By the time I've worked out how to to something on a program I've finished by hand. Be different if I was using it everyday I suppose.building stuff thats got to be spot on i.e. sheds / garages I've done drawings in CAD to help me conceptualise what I'm doing and as a way to check my mental maths
Can't get on with sketchup, its akin to using blackspur stilsons when you have snap on spanners...(well thats my take anyways...too basic for the way I think...too used to AutoCAD)
garden and paving though, I just wing it and make things fit as I go along....
