The wall thickness is the driver as to whether a bender type is suitable.
The JD type are the best in the business but if it's just thin walled tube then that sort of outlay isn't needed.
Pipe benders and tube benders contain different sized dies pipe/tube been measured/manufactured differently so be aware they ain't the same thing when shopping for a bender.
Your not wrong. I've seen people buying those little hydraulic jack type benders for use with tube and they work ok to a point but the die sizes been off slightly don't achieve the nicest bends.Good spot Richard, its surprising how many people don't know the difference between pipe and tube and end up with the wrong dies fitted.

Nice tip.You can pack out the pipe dies to fit tube using ali sheet with some success, as many hobby trike and bike builders do. The other big down side of the push through clarke type benders in the ability to get two bends close together espescially in a different plane, due to the way the bender is built.
I had good results with 11/4 inch tube with a home made die but again restricted by the bender frame
