Well yesterday my new lid turned up in the post ...so far so good I'm at at the kitchen table got it out of the bag and assembled the head band thing peeled off the protective cover and flicked the switch to WELD, lid on and look at the spotlight I have above the cooker ..Nothing no darkening .. I press the test button and the screen flashes dark then back to clear ...try again twiddle the Shade , sensitivity, and delay controls ...still nothing..read the instruction leaflet ..." test with a standard incandescent lamp of 40 watts" .( Shani says "why don't you do a bit of welding to try it" I say "no it just is'nt working a light bulb should activate it "..So i fire up the lap top and ask the seller whats up .....Very miffed now... put the lid back in bag and on the shelf in the workshop .....Cut to this am, wander into workshop, coffee in hand glare at the bag with the new useless lid in it ...pull it out ,put it on look at the workshop lights and it works ?...Fire up the welder ,bit of scrap ...yes it works ?...nice big clear view just as I hoped, but yesterday?...then I get it... the kitchen spot lamp is led very bright but low watts.the workshop lights are bog standard .I feel a fool now....
My old SWP used to work off the fluorescent but the new insert I bought from Amazon doesn't. It works fine when I weld though so no problems. I pulled my old one apart and it has two batteries in it but the new one has one which is replaceable.
Put it down to the batteries in your helmet needed a bit more charge and the lights have done the job now
