Thought I'd ask on here, I hope it's in the right place, mods please advise if not.

I need 1000x1000mm Copper sheets, in 1.5-16.mm thickness for my Cooker hood & sink project.
Finding a decent supplier over here in Portugal is proving fruitless.

I've got a transport company in Andover, which does weekly runs down to Portugal, so getting it over here is not a problem, as long as it can be delivered in the UK.

I need the 1m square sheets, as that what I get in my car. I can't collect 2000x1000mm, otherwise I'd get that size.
I'm still working out the number sheets needed, but it'll most likely be more than 6.

    Thanks in advance

You need the special metals dept for non ferrous stuff, a way down the page here, they are a pretty helpful bunch.

Im almost 100% certain this wont apply to you, but the cheapest way ive found to buy smaller amounts of copper sheet is in the form of 2nd hand water cylinders.

Chop the top an bottom off, and slit the side, and youve got a fair amount for very little cash.

I have used old cylinders to make copper roses and butterfly's but cleaning them up especially the inside is a right pain as it is usually black.

Mild acid brings them up pink.

I have bought cylinders from eBay, but as there have been none recently, I put wanted ads in local Facebook 'for sale' groups. I had even got as far as compiling an email to send to local plumbers but have succes on Facebook - I'm collecting one tomorrow. Offer to pay a generous scrap value & it flushes them out. Still way cheaper than buying new sheet.
The foam comes off easily enough and the black inside stuff mostly comes off when I anneal it, or it just stays out of sight.

Even the black stuff on the inside?
    What acid do you recommend?
    Cheers

I use either citric acid or a weak solution of sulphuric acid, citric can be bought in small quantities from most chemists or in larger quantities from wine making suppliers. Sulphuric can be found as one shot drain cleaner in plumbers merchants. Both work well sulphuric is just longer lived.

    Hope this helps
