Winter 2016 is well and truly upon us and its time to get back in the garage for 6 months of blue fingers, blue language and head scratching.
With the last build long gone and with its new owner, its time to start a new thread to remind me to get in the cold recesses of the shed, and get on with something else.
First idea was to build another Yamaha TR1 so over the summer I acquired the necessary bits plus a lot more ready for a fresh start, but in keeping with this hobby I soon got thinking about modifying my ideas and decided to scrap my plans and go with something a bit different. Back on eBay with the acquired bits and onto the search for that something different........
Fast forward several months later and I'm now the proud owner of another random collection of motorcycle related bits and pieces, not all from the same manufacturer. After my quest for a single cylinder British machine I soon realised that the prices were absolute ridiculous and the thought of cutting one up would be a bit of a tragedy I think?
So here it is, not much in the way of fabrication work yet, as I'm just assembling an "organised" random selection of parts I may or may not use.
Based on a 1990 Suzuki DR800, it should have plenty of grunt for a single, looks sort of air-cooled, apart for the oil cooler which Ill be hiding somewhere. Managed to squeeze it into the back of my Golf, it is in various boxes and compared to my last project start, this one should be a doddle !!!
I've just been throwing some bits and pieces together at the moment to get an idea of the look I want to achieve. I've already sort of decided the colour scheme though its still mostly in boxes and I've not laid a spanner on it.....
Stay tuned, because if its anything like the last build, (3 winters) its going to be a long old journey
