I used to be in the services game many years ago, I've run loads of cables up to poles, but never had any involvement above ground. I've wondered a couple of things everytime I pass these and hopefully there is someone who can fill in a couple of blanks?
Q1. Not sure if its a test point of some sort - it looks like a single insulator on a bracket just under the wires, connected to the centre phase.
Q2. How do linesmen know which phase is which?
Q3. Looks like an insulator on the straining wire but with two rods sticking out - what are these for? My guess was to test resistance across the insulator?
Thanks!
