If so, some points to be sure of -
It wont be as adventurous, nor as professional as Kim's
It will be much slower
A very brief "pilot" to see if you're keen -
As some of you may have seen, i picked this up a couple of weeks back -
I have been after a defender for some time. We have a 101 forward control, and a 300tdi disco, but a defender was missing off the list.
I was going to go for a 110 truck cab, possibly a high cap, however, my partner did not really like that idea. Something about other people, children, etc.
I went to look at a 200tdi CSW a couple of months back, and realised how much usable space there was in the back, with the seats down, so settled on the CSW.
...which, unfortunately, seems to be the most desirable version!
I specifically wanted a 300tdi. We have a 300tdi in the disco, a breaker disco, with a good engine, and the 101 has an international engines 2.8 in it (kind of an uprated 300tdi) - so another 300tdi would fit in well with the spares / knowledge pool.
The current costs of them seem to be -
Fancy / shiny = £8k+
Generally ok = £5k
Rough = £3-4k
All of which would be achievable for me in the short term. So, when you have no option to buy the object you're after, you can do nothing other than keep your eye out, whilst saving pennies.
"Keeping your eye out" in the digital age means bookmarks in your smartphone, which you check, multiple times per day, grimacing that everything is way out of your price range.
Until, one morning, i see a listing on ebay, that went live overnight. By 7:45, i had made contact with the seller. By lunch time, id got a deposit down, and by the weekend, we had picked up the vehicle.
