I've been working on building new bulkheads for Series II Land Rovers as a bit of a hobby for a wee while now, and had some pretty decent results so far.
I started by measuring one up, drawing it out in Autocad and having a load of bits laser cut in 1.2mm sheet steel.
The footwells, door pillars and feet were bought in as I decided it might save some time, sorta worked.
Anyways, some pressing, folding, welding and bearing with various hammers saw something recognisable come together.
A few lessons have been learned, and having sorted making up my own footwells, I'm looking at making my own door pillars, as the ones I bought in needed a reasonable amount of modification to make them work, and had room for improvement in terms of overall accuracy compared to an original.
The problem I have is that it's a relatively complex shape, and I'm currently stuck trying to work out how to make one from scratch without doing more work than modifying a pre made one.
Anyways suggestions greatfully received.
