Favourite is sanwhiching the top bar / weld area.@Kent, any advice on lining up railing points / railheads? Like these. I’ve had an absolute mare tonight.
30x10 flat bar. Thought I’d be clever and punch the 12mm holes for the round bar myself as brundles didn’t have stock.
Came out crooked as hell. Took me a good half hour on the anvil to straighten.
Then a tonne of clamps to get it proper flat before welding. Then getting the poxy railheads lined up.
I’m trying to match some gates the customer has bought. The railheads are not sunk into the 30x10 they sit on top.
I remember why I don’t do railings now.
Working for about £10 an hour at the minute.
They look good mate!
Came out okay with a length of Ali bar
Hammerite Smooth Gold. Aerosol can.Nice result!! As an aside, what gold paint is that you used?
If it was for myself I’d have them galvanised every time. A lot of people just can’t seem to get their head around shelling out a little more now, to save for a load of flaky paint down the line.In the UK environment (a bit damp, I believe) usually do you hot dip galvanize the external railings?
Have a nice weekend.
