Hi Amanda: Welcome....

Have got to ask - why 'cheekychap' and not 'cheekychapess' or am I missing something?
Im here for help
thats true but im not here to make loads of freinds
Hi Amanda
Mig is by far the easiest process to learn, it's very forgiving and easy to learn but is limited to mild steel, stainless steel with a bit of fettling and aluminium with a bit more fettling. Tig will weld pretty much most metals but is a more complicated process, you basically have an 'electric flame' which melts the metal and you fed a thin rod of the same metal into the weld. A lovely way of getting a great looking weld but harder to learn, mainly due to having to control two hands rather than one. I'd really suggest getting a very cheap mig to start with and just get a feel for it, you can pick them up really cheaply. As you progress and find new things to do with it, upgrade it or get a tig.
