hi all I am trying to find some new gogles for gas welding ally sheet they have to be a Certain type as they cut through the flux flare anyone know where I can get any from.
Thanks in advance Dell
Cobalt blue are the ones a lot of welders use. There are some with a "gold film £££" which are supposed to be the bee's knees but it depends on how dedicated you are and how much you want to spend. Plasmatech sell the blue glasses.
Thanks for the reply slim_boy_fat
But very expensive and in USA
Thanks pedrobedro will have a look my current goggles are green and 30 years old and going foggy ( and no it's not my eyes)
Dell
Not googles but the Pulsafe visor i mentioned in the other thread on the same subject http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/aluminium-gas-goggles.61826/#post-777841 is available cheaply from pretty much any decent welding supplier in the UK. Not tried it personally but if/when i lose/break the flux rated glasses i currently use i'll be buying one instead of hunting high and low for some replacement lenses
Thanks hotrodder
I had forgot I had asked the question before but as I am an old man and need glasses I cannot use these glasses and the one I got from murex were just standard goggles you would think murex would know what to use.
Dell
I'd be very wary of glass blowing lenses... while most, if not all of them, will filter out sodium glare didymium lenses don't provide enough IR protection for welding. Or even all types of glass working according to the the internet. Similar deal with 'traditional' cobalt blue lenses too i believe. Googling something like 'didymium glassblowers cataract' should get the full story
