Hello there, I'm new to the forum and welding in general. I've done a small amount of welding at my work but I am looking to purchase my own to carry out some engineering/farm welding, hopefully doing more work over time.
I had narrowed my search to an SIP welder as I was looking something fairly reasonably priced around 225Amp and from a good local supplier. Initially I was thinking of a normal MIG around £500 but then I noticed they also do a dual function MIG/ARC inverter welder. So for about another £300 I am now in the notion of one of these. Having no experience of them I thought the extra functionality, better duty cycle and also having 4 feed rollers would be worth the money. Maybe I am wrong and they are less reliable or have some other disadvantages? I don't know.

I was then chatting to another supplier and he sells GYS welders, and says the MONOGYS 250 would be the one to go for. This is a fair bit more money again but then it has automatic wire speed control and can weld aluminium and stainless steel. I'm wondering what actually allows this machine to weld SS/Alu? It also loses the ARC functionality that the SIP inverter has.

If anyone has any comments or thoughts on these machines or my logic/understanding feel free to share.
Thanks
