Hi Guys
Old fart taking up welding scary stuff
Anyway long story short before I get carried away let me state my needs and what I have done impulsively
So I want to weld the occasional big projects mainly for myself and if I enjoy it I will spend the money and do a proper training course.
I want to weld
SS 1mm to 5mm max
ALU 1mm to 5mm
Mild steel many thicknesses
Due to space I am limited to what I want and what I can have
So I started looking at multi process machines
Oxford 220i Multi Process but realised it doesn't TIG ALU oh bugger
Then I found the ESAB Rebel F#@K yeah DC TIG only
Anyone know of a Multi process machine that can do MIG and TIG AC/DC
I have looked at many so I have now resolved to buying two machines
Impulsively I got myself a Portamig 216s MIG Welder Package seems highly rated everywhere could have gone for the 159 would have probably suited me better but then I never listen to my inner voice of sense and went for the 216S with all the bells and whistles
AC/DC Tig machine time oh dear vely explensive
I could just go for the Portamig TEC-TIG 185 AC/DC TIG Welder
but I do like the
GYS TIG Welding Inverter Set Inverter Tig 207 AC/DC HF FV although its not listed on their site so its either an old outgoing model or a China box with a badge of of a well known quality product name
So might get the GYS TIG 200 AC/DC-HF FV which seems to have all the latest bells and whistles
What would you suggest as a solid non China box
For thin Stainless and Alu tig welder
There is also the ESAB CADDY TIG 2200iw AC/DC TA34
OPen to suggestions and why you would choose that machine
