Through simply been in the right place at the right time I managed to get very jammy and land right on my feet with another AC/DC tig. What I paid for it is completely irrelivent but put it this way I'd of needed kneecapping had I not took it away there and then.
It's a tweco badged lorch 220t and I've been playing this afternoon and it's a serious bit of kit.
I've actually used one before in the past and it was a brief blast in factory settings and I thought yeah it's ok.
Now I've set this thing up to suit me and how I weld it's a different animal. It's got a lot going for it for someone like me. It is not littered with eleventymillion settings and hidden menus like the fronius but the settings it does have have huuuuuuuuge ranges. It's so simple to navigate too.
Any way down to the welding it is different to fronius and I do (ever so slightly) prefer the fronius for its arc characteristics but I'm talking about a level so fine and a difference so subtle. Noise of arc well yes fronius wins hands down as it's half as quiet as the lorch.
Lorch wins on usabilty and TBH the lorch wins on quietness of the machine as the fans on the fronius kicked in quite a bit before the lorch did. The lorch never made a peep.
Now end results dispite the fronius having a slightly and I mean slightly nicer weld charactoristic the welds as you can see cannot be told apart.
2 of these welds were performed with the 220t and 1 with the magicwave.
Bet you can't spot which is which. I couldn't.
Serious kit that tweco (lorch 220t)
