Start of a thread on my 1975 Peugeot 304 S Cabriolet. First pic as it came off the trailer doesn't look too bad but as you can see it is rotten. It has a hard and soft top.
Front subframe didn't look bad until after sandblasting, both rear outer mountings needed cutting off and making new. Front anti roll bar mounts were pulling out and so were cut out completely and refitted after strengthening the subframe. Pic of completed subframe coming soon.
Inner, centre and outer cills were rotten as was the floor on both sides and some clown had welded large sections of fresh metal over the existing rotten floor without removing the rotten sections first. Need to work outside so waiting for better weather but keeping busy with suspension etc work in the meantime.
Why did I buy it? God knows. I served a large part of my apprenticeship and a few more years on Peugeot cars in the seventies and so have a soft spot for them. Now aged 62 I had just started back at work after being off for 8 months with cancer and must have thought now or never if I am doing this. We all make mistakes but I have started so will see it through.
