Smother it in jb weld and shove it in... Can't bodge it much more than that. Getting it out again might be interesting. Thanks mate I really need it fixed for work Monday morning. I suppose I could bodge it for a week. My.bodges seem.to.be permenant
What is shim stock mate. No I would weld it in or at least weld a bead down.the side so 8t was a press fitSmother it in jb weld and shove it in... Can't bodge it much more than that. Getting it out again might be interesting.
Not got any shim stock?
Can of coke would do it.
If you want give me the sizes you want and I'll get them done tomorrowThanks mate I really need it fixed for work Monday morning. I suppose I could bodge it for a week. My.bodges seem.to.be permenant
thanks mate, well i drilled the hole to 16mm i would need to measure the hole to be sure it is actually 16mm on the dot! I guess that is the beauty of having a lathe. how tight does it need to be for a snug pressfit? If you want give me the sizes you want and I'll get them done tomorrow
It depends how tight you want it but If it's a 16mm hole I'd go 16.3 just pm me with the dimensions and how many you want and I'll see what I can dothanks mate, well i drilled the hole to 16mm i would need to measure the hole to be sure it is actually 16mm on the dot! thanks mate well i drilled it to 16mm and wish i did not now but it depends on how accurate the toolstation drill bit was dont it!It depends how tight you want it but If it's a 16mm hole I'd go 16.3 just pm me with the dimensions and how many you want and I'll see what I can do
Is the internal hole bang on 12mm or does that have a flexible tolerance.too much over and the internal bore might be compromised, I could bang 15mm copper in there but it wouldnt last long
The press fit I've done has been solid not hollow and it's worked fine but I'll take your recommendation and do them 0.15 over sizeLast time I made something for a tight pressed fit I turned it 0.15 over size and put a 45° chamfer on the end to get it started. Took a few tonnes of pressure on the press at work to get em through but it was a nice fit and went in smoothly. 0.3 over seems rather much personally.
I’m no expert on these things either. There are better people to take advice from when it comes to machining parts I can only go by the odd thing I’ve done for a pressed fit.The press fit I've done has been solid not hollow and it's worked fine but I'll take your recommendation and do them 0.15 over size
All the stuff I've done when you press it you get a nice ring that scrapes of so that probably won't be any good for this so I'll do it .15 like you sayI’m no expert on these things either.
