Hello, my first post here!
A bit of history, bought a Clarkeweld 100E Gas Mig about 6 years ago now and hardly used it, come to use it last year and couldn't get a decent weld out of it so just left it, dragged it out and up to my mate's workshop recently to see if we could get it set-up because I know its not me I can weld fine with his Snapon branded Cebora 135 and his works Cebora 200 Amp welder, used to work on HGV trailers and my welding has passed Ministry tests
Main issue is that it feels like the wire speed or power fluctuates as if you're on a spot weld setting, but this welder of course doesn't have any function like that!
Due to the length of time that it has been sat we removed the tarnished wire from the reel to make sure it wasn't rust that was causing it, checked the groove on the wheel and fitted a new tip.
Only when the wire and power were turned to near flat out would a decent weld be possible to lay down, welding thin car panel type metal was very difficult.
Gas wasn't an issue as it was hooked up to a half full BOC bottle of Argoshield IIRC, we did try varying the flow there with no luck
Any ideas? I have a rollcage to fit into my brother's Saxo, and some engine mountings for a transmission transplant to do shortly as well!
