Cleco pins - how to use ?

I have bought and used the highly useful gadgets called Cleco clamps.






Having never used their sister the Cleco 'pin' or seen them used. Am I correct in assuming that they have to be entered into a hole drilled with a fine tolerance, otherwise the 'nubs' on the ends will not catch ? Sorry if this all seems obvious, but i have just paid £160 for two new sills and don't want to drill them with unnecessary holes

The bit in the middle that the two outer parts slide up, is tapered.
So they will work over a small range .
They come in sizes to match rivet diameter.

As long as you've got the right drill , say a 32nd over cleco and rivet diameter it should be fine.

3/16 rivet - 7/32 drill

The pins are obvious enough -- think of them as a removeable rivet, much as Wynne says. Good idea to deburr all the holes, and don't get a torch much closer than 2" to them.

The clamps you use on edges, much as you would an itsy bitsy G cramp.

I see that someone has decided that the tool needs a plastic handle in the 20 years since I last bought one!

I think the ones FROST do are for 3mm holes (1/8 inch?).
