Default hello- New to forum SIP user

Hi-been viewing as have sip migmate 130 for car repairs on CO2.

I'm an electronics engineer and interested in improving wirefeed - several ideas on here. Looking at circuits Murex don't vary speed with volts setting, SIP does. Any preferences? Thinking of design to post if anyone interested?

Trying to find Argon/co2 nearly bought welder withbottle to sell on welder.

I quite like having the speed regulated independently of the welding voltage. Means moving back to the welder a bit more, but what's a touch more exercise?

I think the SIP pulls voltage from the rectified DC output to the torch which would of course vary with torch setting. Bump's modification takes the feed from an additional transformer and rectifier fed directly from the mains input.

Welcome charliecambs. There are independant gas suppliers that are much cheaper than BOC (no bottle rental) but can't think of any in the Cambridge area. Would love to know what you think up - SIP mods are a bit of a hobby for us on the forum.

Hi - Also have sip 130 - do the feed roller tie mod, and the transformer mod as described on the excellent thread on the Sip page - I did and now it's sooo easy to lay a decent weld! CO2/Argon mix I got from Hafords (calm down - it was sunday) for less than a tenner for a little disposable bottle.. Got an extra quid off too, as they'd got the price wrong on their computer.... Makes a big difference over CO2! The end result is a welder that actually works!! I changed the liner too, but it's still a plastic one as that's all I could get, and was learning about these machines, as I still am. I might try curtain wire next - it can't be any worse and is very cheap, or bike brake cable outer, as I'm a bike mechanic and get the stuff even cheaper! Looks identical! Happy Modding!!
