Still learning slowly and breaking my regulator

So why is it that while making a trolley for my Clarke 135 so that I dont knock the welder about and the have the bottle secure so it doesnt fall over do I manage to drop the bottle crushing the guages on the regulator and while trying to reach for that do I knock the welder of the new trolley?

All I was trying to do was check the gas bottle fitted on the tray, I had just finished attaching, at the back and work out where the other bracket was going to go. To make sure it was going to be secure.

Order for new regulator going in to weldequip shortly.
Obviously too late for today's deliveries.

Still teaching myself and making some progress but havnt got round to working on my Land rovers chassis as ive been unwell since before xmas.
Been feeling a bit stronger this week hence going out to the garage to play and knocking over the gas bottle.

That is easy to explain.
A bunch of monkeys broke into the workshop.
Happens to me all the time.
There is a US military euphemism for this situation, I think from the vietnam era.
it is called a clusterf***.
A great term.

Happens to all of us. Lifting my mig on a hoist to weld the rails round the barn mezzanine, I neglected to notice the the bottle had turned so the gauges faced out. Passing the floor level, they hooked and broke off. Queue load hissing noise and a few XXXs from me. Managed to sleave the break, so no £££s for a new unit.
A real DOH! moment.

Chunko, I expect that was related to FUBAR or SNAFU, from WW11.

I have always liked those two, especially SNAFU.
I have days like this, some idiot has been let loose, weird. Other days there is sublime competence all over the place, I have a few days so bad i have just gone home.
I remember a friend calling them 'Glom Days'. The theory being we should all be allowed 10 of them a year by law.

They seem to be a very delicate bit of kit in a rough working environment. Youd think they could be protected better. But once ive completed my trolley it will be safer. Usually ive got it bungied to a leg of my work bench.

Anyway, ordered a new set through weldequip and got tempted and updated my welding helmet to an adjustable shade one.
Expensive day.

You have got me thinking.
I have for years been going to rig some kind of shield over my welding gas reg.
Now I am reminded I had better make it my first job next time I am in.

You reminded me of an old boy i once worked with, he used to say once a bottle is unchained, you don't take your hands off it until it is chained up again.

They are delicate. Can't say i've ever managed to damage one; knackered a couple by being thrown in a drawer though

I damaged my old reg but as it was only a single gauge one it was the excuse I needed to buy new.

I recently made myself a trolley too out of Dexion shelving.

Wanted one of these.

The trolley Im building is lower as its got to go under my work bench for storage. So Im constrained on height. But luckily the underside of bench its 5cm higher than the bottle.

How do you hold the welder safe on top of the trolley.
If I strap it down I wont be able to open the door to get at the spool and feed.

Because of the angle, it is quite top heavy and doesn't move around.
