New computer.

Hi there, this is Cedric, Chunko's son.

I am soon to be buying a custom made gaming computer from this site
The specs I'm thinking of getting are:

Processor:AMD FX-8350 8 core 4.00 GHZ
Motherboard:ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA
RAM:16GB HYPERX BEAST 2400MHz DUEL-DDR3
Graphics card: 3GB AMD RADEON HD7970
Hard drives: 120GB INTEL 520 SERIES SSD (and) 1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK 64MB CACHE

Power supply: This I was unsure of so I selected The Corsair 750W Enthusiast series
Processor Cooling: I was also unsure of this so i selected the Corsair H40 Hydro series and 2x extra case fans.

Sound card:ASUS XONAR DG
Network Facilities: Wireless 802.11N 300MBPS PCI-E Card
Operating system: Genuine windows 7 professional 64bit

(I know I didn't list everything but all there other options such as firewire and RAID I haven't selected)

Anyways, I was hoping to ask if anyone has used this site before and if they are reliable and, is it a possibility with liquid cooling for it too leak and ruin it all?

Also, is there anything on there I should reconsider or change?

As regards the hardware, you will always have some people preferring intel processors over amd as in the past AMD has had many compatibility issues with other hardware and software.

With RAM I would always tend to go for Corsair simply as I have never had issues ever with this memory, they do make very good power supplies as well which I see you are considering.

Asus motherboards are normally pretty good as are radeon grpahics cards. I would always go for the biggest hard drives you can get as you will always fill the space up and Western Digital are good drives but I would also factor in some kind of external backup unit just in case.

unless you are planning on overclocking the processor to its limits you dont need water cooling

I bought my current pc from them. About four years ago now. No problems so far.

They have grown a lot since then and I've heard their customer support isn't up to the standard it once was. They sometimes struggle to keep up with demand and orders can fall behind.

Otherwise you pays your money and takes your chance. The margins are very tight on pc building, so they have to churn them out to make any money.

Not into gaming but my pc cost about £1,500.00 and seems to handle everything I ask of it. The only advice I can give on pc building is to balance your system, otherwise you are creating bottlenecks that negate the point of having higher spec parts.

There are 3 options for the cooling, there are the corsair hydro series, the triple copper heat pipe AMD cooler and the standard AMD CPU cooler. I just didn't think that the standard cooler would be enough to cool it, especially when running hardcore games for up to 12 hours straight. What would you recommend?

i build my own computers, intel processors are superior (amd chase the low cost market but saying that their cpus are still good), thats alot of ram i only have 6gb in my comp and never max it out (but ram is cheap), if you play games online dont bother with the wireless card better with Ethernet.

my specs are
cpu I7 920 2.4 oc 3.0
ram corsair 6bg
mobo some gigabyte one
hard disks one 2tb and another 1tb( look in to hybrid drives )
gcard amd 6850 1gb old but still copes
os win 7 ult 64bit (have a look at the differences its not much you might need)
sound card asus xonar d2 (only bought since on board mic didnt work. but sounded alot better)
psu 480 watt lol the recomemded psu for my components it around 600 watt, for the spec you said 650 watt would be fine

As above i would check out proper sites and base it on best board and CPU for the buck.
Same case as one using now the HAF, theyre big for extended mobos.

Assus pretty good built two using them in the past but Gigabyte far better.
Corsair also quite good using a psu now and DDR XMS memory. Have had many ram failures branded and unbranded inc Kingston and Corsair XMS Dominator, you have to send back to USA.

Mouse recommend the Logitech MX Revolution, rechargeable and lasts days.
SSD drives theres no moving parts and dont get hot, the operating system should be put on it but use other drive for storage or even another operating system ie Win 7 32bit for those times 64 bit wont run.

Cooling, anything with capilliary tubes with decent quiet fan. Only other way is water cooled, the HAF handles that with room for a pump.

I would use a LAN cable but its really awkward in my house, With the wireless PCI-E slot will it still have a LAN connector?

I know that Intel are meant to be better but lets face it, that argument has been going on since they both started up and will carry on going until they go out of business, and besides, the AMD FX octo-core 4.00 GHZ (un-overclocked) Isnt exactly bad by any means :P

On a random note, AMD did overclock it to over 8GHZ and they had to use liquid helium to cool it.

Use a set of LAN over mains adapters I use them and they work well but no good if anyone near by listens to short wave radio

Thats where we get our pcs for work (its a software company).
The intel/amd argument will run and run. (an octo core fx 4GHz is no slouch!!!) probably alot cheaper too. the current niggle is the chipsets for the amd area wee bitty slower tha the intel ones, but you get more bang for your buck with AMD.
Nvidia use hardware physx on the graphics card, but you have plenty of cores in the processor to cope with that.
the wifi will give you latency, which is bad for online gaming. Cables is the best option as you will use a switch, which gives a dedicated link back to the router. if you only use 2 poweline adaptors you will be ok, but with more than one it will be acting as a hub, like wifi, which means that the traffic for each device will go to all devices on the "hubbed" network leg. this gives an added overhead, which is why wifi etc. is always going to be slower than wired LAN.

Most decent mobos have two LAN sockets, so PCI E is an addition.

Ethernet cable dirt cheap available in rolls with plugs or ready made up. Why settle for second best wireless.
