Hi All I have been lurking for a while and I finally registered.
Alright I'm going to buy a mig welder 25-30A up tp 130-180A
Budget 0-$700 (300 pounds). I will be teaching myself to weld (if u dont count a couple hours Arc practice)
So far in my research I have found several brands here in Australia none seem to match Weldequip's great brand for brand comparision post ie SIP, Sealy, Cebora, Clarke etc.
Here in Australia we have on offer
SIP
the feed back I've read here cautions me not to go here
130A cost about $700 AUD (280 pounds)
- am I wrong to not consider them an mod it like the instuctions on this web site.
CIGWeld (I think this is Thermadyne else where)
The web site seems good (www.cigweld.com.au) , lots of spec's spares etc. Prices yet unknown. Weldequip says better than SIP (where would it fall in your 5-10 rating chart?). model TrANSMIG 135 OR 165.
BOC (rebadged Lincoln I believe) and Kemmpi are both to expensive $1000-2500
Clarke, Miller, Cebora don't exist here and if they do they are rebadged.
1. What do those out there who own think of the above models.
2. Does anyone know the rebadged names of any of the above brands are and if they are sold here??
3. Am I better off buying in the UK or USA, seems cheaper over there. The prices look reasonable. If so we work on a 240volt power here I see lots of welders have 230 V ratings will this be a problem??
4. Have I missed a better low cost brand available here?
I have searched the forums but I can't find any of the above listed for Aussies to reference so hopefully some one can shed light on it all.
Ta in Advance
