Butterfly and Hearts

I made this a bit ago for a friend of the wifes, who's daughter had been killed. The hearts are mild steel and the butterfly is stainless. I cocked up the butterfly a bit, I welded the lower wings to the body then realised I couldn't get in to grind and polish it properly. I also used a soft pad on the wings because I thought the contrast with the polished body would look good, in my opinion it didn't but everyone else liked it.

Made me laugh.
I am constantly going through this. it seems that the opinion of the maker does not matter.

A bit late to edit.
Another thought. Making a sculpture as a memorial is a very brave project to take on.
Whatever you do is going to last, people's reactions to it are going to last.
The whole thing is very emotive. This is a brave 'project' to be doing.

Cheers, your not wrong I dont have a lot of confidence at the best of times, doing this was a 100 times worse especially knowing i'd cocked it up a bit.

beautiful, love the colours they stand out nicely ,i think nobody is truly satisfied with anything they make most you can hope for is they like it and considering the circumstances i believe that will become a cherished item for that family and will only strengthen the bond between your own family and theirs , bravo sir i tip my hat to you.
