I have been using a commercial Picke paste for ages to clean stainless steel after welding, it does the job but not nice stuff to be around.
I was wondering if there is a less agressive approach, maybe soaking the workpiece over nght rather than using a concentrate paste for a few minutes.
Would citric acid do the job? Vinegar? (I have access to gallons of cider vinegar). I would be happier with a sealed container of a solution of either of these instead of the nasty stuff.
