Spare funds are always a bit short on the ground so this was made from scrap and parts i've picked up over the years and hoarded in my workshop. The lower anvil was about £6 and is a tractor 3 point linkage lift arm ball, its not perfect but after I flattened the radius a bit with a softpad it works ok. The top wheel is off an artic trailers droplegs, the shaft and pillow blocks were £4 at a car boot sale. The threaded shaft for raising the lower anvil came off a hoist I found in a skip at an old peoples home.
I've never used an english wheel before so I don't have anything to compare it against but it smoothed out hammer marks on a piece of ally and steel. It really needs proper anvils but that will have to wait till I can afford them but I going to start saving.
