free welding help in essex/suffolk boarder

hi all, as part of my qualification in public services im doing through the ATC i have to teach someome/people a basic skill to a reasonable standard and i can do it in helping newbies to weld

would anyone be interested, its agreeat help to me if so

im in halstead, essex just between the essex/suff boarder.

I think most people on here will either be able to weld or if not, they will be too far away.

An ad in your local freebie paper, post office window, or on Gumtree or a similar site that has a locality selection might get results.

Remember also if they are not a member on here then get them to join

and post pics of there progress (will be useful to then point the people behind the qualification to the post on here). In the words of Kojak " if a picture paints a thousand words" well the sentament is there :whistle:

Got to disagree with you there Steve, there are plenty of people on here that couldn't weld before they joined

Or even when they joined.

Sounds like a good idea Will, when you find a some one to take you up on the offer, I expect you will both benefit a sort of win / win situation.

i agree i cant weld yet but joined the forums, bought a welder still havent bothered getting gas and accessory's, think its great the service you are offering not much use to me too far away but pretty sure others will be interested

What a fantastic offer - wish I had found something similar when I was starting out :cool:

I have seen a few requests on the car forums asking for advice or help to get started with welding. :welder:

Normally novices get pointed to the tutorials on here by myself and several other car-forum members.

Hiya,

Nomad over on RetroRides has posted up this offer and I would LOVE to be involved.

I have an 80amp Clarke MIG welder, a crusty Camper Van and no clue where to start...I'm only in Braintree and would really appreciate ANY help you could offer!

So thank you for the generous offer and, if possible, I'd love to be considered.

Hi Steve, good point. I would guess you're right and most folk here will now be able to weld to varying degrees.
The MIG forums are always busy (sometimes with quite basic questions) which shows there are many other trying to get started or improve their welding :welder:

I know the short hands-on training a mate gave me was a huge help when I was a novice (reading the tutorials & forums here was a close second!)
The training offer sounds great :clapping:

I can remember trying to teach myself to ig weld being like hitting my head on a wall. Then a neighbour was listening through the garage door and offered me session going through thetechniques. A short session with somebody who knew what they were doing made all the difference.
Lawnmowerboy, this is a good service to offer.
How did you do the arm?

I've been lurking on here for a while now but this thread has just made me sign up!

I am planning to take a course in welding in the near future with the intention of getting my old car back up to standard and keep it as a second car, but it would be great if I could get some experience in first to get a running start at it.

I'm just down the road in Earls Colne, so if you are still looking for someone I would happily be your test subject
