Default How Much Power

I need a genny to power a sip cosmo 130 but not sure what power it needs.

All the book says is that it needs to be wired via a 16A cct bkr so by my crude calculation

Power = Amps x Volts, so power = 16A(max) x 240

Power = 3840w => 3.8Kva???

There is no power rating to be found in the booklet that came with the welder so should I look for around a 4kva?

First things first a 6kva generator produces 4800w, basically KVA x 0.8 = KW (if i remember correctly). You have to remember that there is a surge when you begin welding so your generator must be able to cope with this. In reality you are looking at a gen similar to this size http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...iven-generator which unfortunatly is going to cost a lot of money. If you try using a smaller generator (might get away with slightly smaller), the only thing you will weld up is the alternator on the generator

Diywelding sells welder gensets, not sure if he can do a deal on a plain generator, or possibly weldequip might have his sources for cheap good quality gen units
