i had a louvred vent made by member paul33 (thank you fella) and have welded it into my bonnet to let some heat out created by the supercharger.
i had to cut away some of the bracing on the underside and have welded in some steel to tidy up the edges and try to retain some rigidity. all went well.
when i welded the louvred panel (approx 1.5mm thick) in by tacking first and then using the stop-start technique the bonnet skin has deformed, i have managed to pull the deformations out but the skin feels very 'soft' and deforms easily when pressed with a finger.
is there any way to make the skin more tougher, ie heat it and cool it quickly??
the warping is around the corners of the vent towards the centre of the bonnet not on the edge.
here are some pictures to help explain
any advice appreciated
