What sort of budget are you on?
There re some great buys on Fleabay for 'reconditioned' new tools. I buy these all the time, I think the term means they have been unpacked an not used, usually around 50/60% retail price.
With a drill spend as much as you can afford, cheapo ones have garbage chucks. I still have a Bosch ***600 cant remember the first bit but it is about 18 years old.

Can't really comment on their drilling machines but I have a naerok scroll saw, which I've had for about 25 yrs & it's had some stick, mainly on brass & I rate it along with hegners[classed as the rolls royce of scroll saws] I converted it to variable speed & variable stroke lengths & it's never let me down & it's used regularly, it even has a cast Iron table whereas only the top of the range hegners have that, the rest have die cast

Have had one of their bandsaws for around 18years now, still going strong.

Sounds like it would have been ok for the price?
I dont 'need' a pillar/bench drill quite yet but I'm keeping an eye on ebay etc for a good one at a good price.
I was thinking about £50 but I guess that budget might increase to near double once I have the space.

Why would a seller pay the extra to add a photo of a label no one can read
Probably a bargain at that price, i love it when sellers can't be bothered My drill is a Naerok PID19 from their "professional" range no less. 1hp motor, 3/4 inch chuck capacity, MT3 arbour. Massively built, barely discernible play in the quill, 16 speeds from 160 to 3030 rpm, big rotating and tilting table with winding handle, depth stop. Can't think of anything else i need and it seems like it'll last well. They also did lighter range models GP13 and GP16 from what i've seen. Korean stuff seems to be ok, think Vertex for instance.
To answer the original question if it's on a par with Clarke the only one in their range that is as powerful as this and with a 3/4 chuck capacity will set you back £450 though they only do a floor standing model. See attached image for an idea of the size of this thing

Does anyone actually know that Naerok are made in Korea? 2 drills have come up on ebay that have made in West Germany written on them, i can't find anything on mine but a British company address on the label and a British made GEC motor. The name seems an obvious clue but does anyone know?

I've only just seen your post so sorry for not responding earlier.
Your drill looks very similar to the one that was on ebay, I did manage to make out mt3 on the lable so maybe it was the same model.
I really wish I had put a good bid on it now looking at the size of the thing
