Default Mig problems, Not sure if its the welder or me.

I am new to mig welding. I bought a very cheap Clarke 95 gassless mig welder on ebay. It just has a high and low setting and 1-10 feed adjustment. I only planned to use it for auto body work. So far my welds look very rough. Is the clarke 95 a bad welder to start with? someone local has a Lincoln Electric 140 HD Welder for sale, i was thinking of buying it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

When I learnt to weld I found gasless wire was the problem, converted to gas and my welds were miles better and easier.
