Post College Course Edinburgh

Hi folks,
After searching around I found the following evening course available for those in and around Edinburgh.
I've applied and am awaiting news as to wether I'm accepted or not !
Seems I'll only find out a couple of weeks before it starts.

Application was straightforward, did it online, only problem I did have was trying to remember my qualifications with dates !

Location: Stevenson College, Edinburgh
Course: Basic Welding
Content: This course covers safe use and operation of oxy-acetylene welding, arc welding and brazing techniques. This is followed by MIG welding and resistance spot welding.

When: Tuesday Evenings, Starting September
Duration: 10 weeks
Cost: £130

Web: http://www.stevenson.ac.uk/courses/c...-welding/?fs=1
I'll let you all know how I get on, if accepted.

Chase them up if you don't hear soon. Some of the edinburgh colleges are atrocious for actually contacting people. Its a wonder many of their evening courses actually run. (Telford were bad for that when I applied last year.)

I can tell you, I have tried for over a year now to have evening class restarted at ETC, I can tell you, reason for it not happening has been down to management, there are staff employed there who do want these welding courses to run for all to enjoy and learn!!

Cheers............

Disappointed staff member.

New term kicks off next month, I will chase this matter up.

Nice one Coo, does Lauder not do evening welding classes? Nothing wrong with Stevenson's, I'm just thinking Lauder is your side of the Forth.

Cheers............

I work in Edinburgh, so with the traffic I've more chance of getting across the city !

Stevenson was the only one that did an evening one, suitable for me who works in an office. Shame you could not get your college to sort themselves out, bit nearer !

Cheers

Telford college management is whole story in its self!

A friend of mine ( and a former Telford employee) recently bought £15k worth of hardly used 2 year old glassworking machinery for £3k! and they wonder why they reputedly dont have any money!

Right ill get off my soap box now

Post Update - Enrolment

Course started tonight,
... well would have if the tutor had remembered it started this week !
Tutor will be Craig Watson (or Wilson)

I turned up on time, found the room and waited ....
Head of department stood in to welcome us, I think his name was Les Dyer...(possibly, sorry ! )

As 5 of us sat there he mentioned that if not enough people turned up it could be cancelled, if a large group turned up it could mean too many ...which would mean turning people away.

Luckily though 20 turned up !!!
So he will have to splt the class for another night....assuming tutor agrees to Tuesdays and Thursdays, or he finds someone else.

After filling in forms, he showed us the workshop, then sat and waited for the timeslot to register/enrol.
Went up, paid, got my pic took and given my student card and that was that.

All that waiting, all the nervousness just for that !

So we have to turn up next week for it to start proper.
We were advised to wear flame/fire proof overalls and steel toecapped boots.
Luckily I have both so will be ready...

Sorry for the anti climax !
Update next week !
