Default Auto darkening helmet

Hi All, I seem to have trouble with "seeing" while I am trying to weld, I have tried playing about with the dial but it doesn't seem to go dark enough, am I doing summat wrong?

If you are using flux core wire,it can be almost impossible to see your weld puddle.

Yeah a bit more info would help, like what you are welding / type of welder ie. mig, tig, arc, and helmet make / type.

11/12 should be dark enough for what you are doing, I use a speedo 9002X myself and the only problem I have is not going low enough for some low amp tig work, apart from that, no other problems......Oh forgot to mention age a and eye condition does play a certain part in it all also...HTH

If I go too dark on the shade I find I can only see the weld pool and none of the surroundings, as a result I sometimes go past where I wanted to finish. Another thing I notice is the shield glass cover inside and out gets dirty gradually and it gets fuzzy so I take it out and wash it and all is fine again. You still need to replace them occasionally but it does help I find.
