Yo SAM dude, as the youth have it these days.
I'll have you know that I've been hard at it all day on the PC doing some jolly good Excel stuff for my employer. Now I'm wasting my time for a bit, per advice from th Health and Safety Executive guidlines for mugs that have to use computers an that.
Not quite heavy labour like some of you chaps and it does bore the **** off me at times.
Last week, I spent most of my time in a dynamometer cell, that was OK. Don't get to do that often though.

I did my HNC Mechanical in 1971 and then "went back to school" in 1994 for 6 years day release - luckily my employer paid for it.

Talking to a guy that pops in to work pretty regular. He put his house on the market last week, I asked how things were doing re the sale, one couple from an eastern EU country are very interested, making statements such as, need to organise a lender OH and, look in to how much we can receive for a grant!!
Bloody hell, a grant.........now if this is the case that migrant workers do receive a grant (if applicable) this whole country has surely went MAD. Gone are the days of tax relief on a mortgage, nor do I recall being offered a grant for my first purchase!!

I don't know if this thread is still open or not, but if it is this may amuse! When I was younger, so much younger than today I never needed any........... Sorry I digress. I was about 14 and had aquired an old 350 Royal Enfield Bullet. I'll paint the tank, I thought. I'll have to remove the old paint, Dad burns paint off with a blowlamp! (you can see where this is going can't you?) Any way I thought, petrol, inflammable must drain it out, which I did. As you will now realise I have a petrol tankful of inflammable/explosive vapour. I removed the petrol taps,but left the filler cap on. Flashed up the blow lamp, Oh and I forgot to say that this all takes place in the cellar of my parents home. Fortunately they were out. so off I go heating up paint and scraping it off when I directed the blowlamp at the area around the site of the petrol taps, now removed. There were two brief jets of flame form the tap holes and then the most enormous BOOM. There was the tank bulged out with most of the seams split and me standing there ears ringing thinking what the hell happened??????
Next there was a knock on the back door and the next door neighbour is standing there asking ' Did you hear a bang'? Me 'No not a thing what sort of bang? I've been down the cellar for the last hour'
So,I wrapped the tank in an old sack got on my bicycle rode into the country and dumped it in an old chalk pit.
So what did we learn from this children? first petrol is bloody dangerous stuff, and secondly I must have been one lucky 14 year old!
