have been looking at welders lately and saw a good deal on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEALEY-SIEGEN-...item56329a90d6 but can only do 2mm steel maximum any other good quality welders for cheap prices? needs to be able to do about 4-5mm, Thanks |

There's loads that will do that sort of thickness but they won't be cheap, are you looking at doing long or short runs? You need to consider duty cycle, if you're constantly running a machine flat out then it simply isn't big enough, you must have some power in reserve to get sufficient welding time out of it.
What's your absolute top budget? (Machine price only but don't forget you'll need to add consumables and safety equipment on top.)

no probally about 2-3 mm mostly but will be using around 4-4.5mm some times
welder will not be used all day every day either, just now and again. is the clarke welders any good ? http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...iy-mig-welders thanks |

Yes but not that one!
There's a Clarke 160T that's just been put in the for sale section, It's only 150A but they're great little machines and that one is a bargain! It will handle 4-5mm but not for very long though, you'd soon hit the thermal cutout on long runs. 2-3mm is a breeze with one of those Off for a nice 12 hour nightshift now there'll be no more replies from me til tomorrow morning in case you wonder where I've disappeared to. Ttfn.
