AUTOPLUS 130 Power/Wire Feed Problem

Finally had to dig my Autoplus 130 (grey version) out from under the bench.
Firstly many thanks for supplying alternatives to BOC for gas supplies, much money saved.
So after getting my bottle connected up and after starting to relearn how to weld again it stops after about 20 minutes.
I have power to the Auoplus but no wire feed and solenoid doen't cut in either, when the switch is pressed.
Checked torch and thought problem was related to possible broken cable, but still no power.
Tried various other options but all to no good any ideas.

If the torch contacts are good, if it was an average Sip I would say that you had lost the relay voltage from the pcb transformer.
Could you post some pictures if the insides, Or the circuit diagram from the manual ?

Hi Robert
Cant find the manual, so no circuit digram which does make it a little bit more difficult.
So here are pictures of the inside.

That looks like a regular Sip control board.
The transformer is the green square in this photo, though they can be black or gray,This one from another thread is green.:http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4719&stc=1&d=1219756927
If you have a meter of some sort see if you have about 12v dc on the torch button leads, when the button isn't pressed.

No voltage, whichever way I tried to measure.

Initial checks



Check on the reverse of the PCB - you should be able to trace the mains feed to the transoformer - use the multimeter and check there is 240V on the primary side and check the secondary is between 9V and 12V AC.

If that is ok, the rectifier will have 4 terminals, two marked ~ and two DC marked + and -. Make sure there is AC on the two AC terminals and about 12V dc on the two DC terminals.

So long as I'm doing it right, on the PCB to the mains transformer can find 240V on the primary but nothing on the secondary.
So and I hesitate to say but does that mean I need to replace the transformer?
If so do you know the specification and from where I can get one ?

The spec should be on the top - look for output voltage (9-0-9, 9-0, 12-0 or 12-0-12) and the VA rating.

Looking at the pic - it's simply a 12v output, 15VA (Maplin should have something compatable). If you can't find one that is the exact same fit, it will still work if you connect the 240 input and the 12 output via wires to the correct pins on the board.

If you do take it out, you can double check by measuring the resistance of the primary and secondary sides, if either are open circuit it proves the transformer has blown.
