Thank you. Total weight at galvanising (minus axle & wheels) was 200kg even. Axle & wheels are approx 50kg so I can transport a load of 500kg.
It cost approx €850 including galvanising to make (excluding my time)
I also have a small tail gate (not shown in photos).
I think I made a reasonable...
Nice work, it looks very well.
As a gym user myself I see one problem with the design. Dont worry its the same in the gym also but I can only assume its to do with stabilisng the unit. It would be more useful it the heavier wights were at the top, the lighter at the bottom. Makes sense to me...
Hi All
I just ordered a set of these, think they should do the job.
Getting them shipped across the pond, very reasonably.
Hopefully I'll get the sides and front folded next weekend.
Thank you very much.
I use '3 leaf' springs. Get them at €12 each from my local supplier.
My opinion is the A-frame is stronger and that the weakest pont in the straight version where the A is. Its just easier to fab the straight one but will prob go with the A-version.
Should be mainly...
Hi All
CAD models of my most recent trailer showing straight and A-frame toe bar.
I can't decide which is the best so I decided to throw it out there among the forum experts.
A-Frame is probably srtonger but straight TB is so much easier to fabricate. A-Frame I use 60x40x4 & 60x60x4 for...
thanks, didn't know it existed so I googled it - 'Hammerite Metalmaster'
Found these reviews:

and based on them I wont be getting it, but thanks for your help tho.
Hi
Thanks for the response. When you say you had no issues do you mean no issues when applying the paint or no issues in relation to the paints corrosive prevention properties. Its the latter i'm more concerned with.
Sorry if its a dumb question but its been a long day at work any my brain's...
Hi All
I recently made some gates & want to paint them. Its a tedious job brush painting so I would like to spray them.
I have some hammerite paint but it wont go through the spray gun in its current state.
Does anybody know if Hammerite or similar type paints can be thinned out to the...
Hi
Can anybody give me some info on gas-less MIG welding, basically I want to be able to use my MIG outside. Is this possible. Also, I dont weld a lot recently but still have to pay the bottle rent each month which is a bit of a waste. I have a MUREX 260 TradesMIG if that any use.
thanks in...
Hi BMAK
Approx 1m from front of trailer base to centre of hitch.
I made the sides 350mm high. This height was determined by the size if the sheet. I got both sides & the front piece from a 2440 x 1220 sheet.
Before bending the height of each sheet is about 440mm.
So 2440mm - 440mm leaves me...
My Design
Hello
Here is one I made a while ago. I used two independant suspension units, I have previously used leaf springs but wanted to try a new design.
Perhaps this might give you some ideas for your own trailer.
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, its mild steel box section I am welding. I have a MIG but may not have enough gas to finish the job so was curious to know if I could finish the job with my arc welder.
I assume all the welds will have to be completly free from slag.
Thanks
Hi Guys
Can somebody please tell me if I can galvanize parts that have been welded using an arc welder :welder:, I have been advised that the area around & including the weld (slag removed of coarse before hand) will not galvanize properly. A black mark appears
Will I need to use...
Torch Update
Hi Guys
Just an update, I had a look at the ESAB torch, nicely constructed piece but I just didn't fancy it. I opted for the original Murex torch instead in the 3m length - have to say its excellent. The torch is very compact & neat and no more tangled up cable with the 3m...
Hello all,
I searched for the Parweld torches, prices range from £35 to £55 (€45 to €73) depending on amps, so adding P&P to the dearer torch its not far away from €100. The ESAB torch for €100 in the shop is suitable for up to 300A machines so probably just as easy to get that one.
In...
thanks a lot :)
Just got in touch with a local welding supply shop and they have ESAB 3 & 4m torches on a special at €100 (I thought they would be more) so will give them a try......
Thanks again
