This works a treat, willeven remove powder coating without too much grief, it's cheap, quick delivery, I wouldn't use anything else these days.....but beware, it's pretty nasty, you need good ventilation...
I use a standard kitchen single oven, it is fan assisted which I thought could cause aproblem, but it works great. I was going to buildone out of a 45 gallon drum with PID controller, but never had the need to be honest! The single oven I have has just got a single element which runs off a...
Thank you guys, looks like I've found myself a TIG !!!! Taken on board the tips about the ac/dc machine, I may have to save a bit more, but that's the one I want!!

Thanks for the tips Chevy........I will discard those machines......I did see a thermal-arc set, will have another look.
What about R-tech machines, in particular this one: http://www.r-techwelding.co.uk/welding_equipment/Tig_Welder/Tig_Welders_R-Tech_Tig160PDC

Thanks for the heads up Mark, being a Tig virgin, I rely on someone knowing the score!!!
As for what I want to weld, well I've always wanted to weld Ali and stainless, in real terms fairly thin material like exhausts (stainless) and Ali thin or thick! if that makes sense! Like I said, this...
It says it comes with tig torch, earth lead MMA torch and foot pedal........as for warranty, I'm not sure, so that's something I'll have to check on.

Hi guys,
Having used a mig for the best part of 30 years! I would like to have a go at a TIG welder. Now having not had any experience with one, I really don't know what to look for, I've done a long search on this forum for advice etc, but not really seen anything at the budget...

That is Shawn Pisciotti, he runs a thing called the "hack and pack shop" where he fixes your pile of junk for little money, he's a superb body guy and a damn hard worker. don't be hard on him he does good work. he's always got a ton of work in his shop so he's doing something right!!!!!
Would highly recommend one Warren! I got mine from Electrostaticmagic.co.uk and just use a standard kitchen oven, works a treat.....justgot to make sure anything you coat is free of rust and muck!! I gave this a quick sandblast before I coated it.
Thanks to Dippy for my Boot puller which arrived today :-) So I set about giving it a quick sandblast, and now it's powder coated in Copper vein......looks brilliant
I use an old single oven, it's a fan oven which I thought could be a problem, but it's great.....although not if you're planning on doing large items!!!! Mine is fairly low wattage and came with a standard 13amp plug......would highly recommend it. I paid £30 for it and it'd hardly been used.
Well I guess it's a case of how much it cost you plus your profit......I haven't a clue what one would cost on the open market!! Give me a price and I'll say yay or nay!!!
I'll second that one, Eclipse are superb.....and not only do you get to speak to a real person, he pretty much takes ownserhip of your problem and sorts it out.....Highly recommended, been with them 8 years now
