I'd be interested to see what you come up with. Bike repair stands are a bloody rip off, the only tricky bit is the clamp, no idea where you could buy something suitable though.

Rob
I'm pretty sure I've still got the old quill assembly from a damaged Warco mill head. Morse 3 taper in it with a double pulley at the top. It could no doubt be bodged in to some sort or solid head assembly and be pretty effective. Let me know if you're interested and I'll go and check if it's...
Oh dear, nevermind we all make mistakes ;) I had the Warco equivalent, you might as well start by taking of the so called mill head and offer it to your nearest boating enthusiat for anchor duties. Even as a drill it's a bit pants!
The lathe part though is competant enough. I used to use...
Course they run of mains voltage. I guess what the sales "advisor" was tryin to say was that when running at full power the machine should be on a 16A (minimum) circuit rather than a normal 13A. That never stopped me running my SIP150 through a 13A plug at full whack with no issues. If you only...
Hmmm, I must say that child labour sweat shops have been given a very bad name by the media, that one looks perfectly acceptible to me, even the sprog looks happy in his repetitive chain welding slavery ;)

Out of interest how different is the spacing for the caliper bolts, and do they need to be moved forward or back in relation to the original lugs? Just wondering if you could use one of the original lugs and only have to modify the other one which would help maintain some of the original...
Hmmm, tricky indeed.
My only suggestion would be to look at a separate spot caliper to act as a handbrake, Willwood do one:

You should be able to fab up a bracket for that off the existing...
How about reversing things? Can you fit the caliper on the opposite side? Here's a set up I did for my old (and dead) 240Z.

Sorry the pics are from different sides of the car, and I haven't got any pics of just the hub and adapter. Oh and in the future I'd just...

Can Weldequip supply masks like that guy uses?
Any boffins care to guess how the tiny box bangs out so many amps? And who's going to be brave enough to buy one to try out?

I bought the steel for my work bench from these guys:
A1 Steel Ltd
Unit 1b, Centurian Business Park, Sturrock Way, Bretton, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire PE3 8YF
Tel: 01733 268600
That was 50x25mm rhs, I'm sure they'd be able to supply you with plate though, give them a bell.
Cheers,
Rob
Hi,
The table feed will still run on 240V, it'll use a 240V single phase to 240V three phase inverter, so the motor needs to be fiddled with (rewound was the wrong word for me to use) so that it runs in delta rather than star - summat like that, can't say I've got my head quite around this...
Thread resurection indeed ;) Shame I sold the lathe a couple of months back but thanks anyway, it may help some other unfortunate who bought a crappy Chinese lathe!
On the 3 phase front, I went with an inverter, snagged a 2hp one for about £100 IIRC. Got it set up on the mill and it runs a...
Can you get 0.6mm wire? That'd definitely help control the current/voltage at the bottom end of things. Even so I'd thought 0.5mm anything would be a nightmare to MIG.
Cheers,
Rob
Yep, I've used them once, no problems with them. They are however just middle men, so do check the delivery costs to you as it'll depend which steel supplier they have a contract with in your area. My steel ended up coming from a place in Northampton (I'm near Peterborough) but delivery cost...
You can Malcolm, but generally not as easy as a dedicated pillar drill. Most mills only have a fine feed on the quill - if they even have a feed on the head and don't rely on raising the bed to set depth of cut. The fine fine just doesn't give you the same level of feedback when you're drill as...
