Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I bought the kit on ebay for £120 which has been worth it for the 3M filter kit plus spare 8 hour batteries but....... was a tad disappointed that the lens in the welding mask was smashed. Also I have a 3M mask with the same filter kit which has a flip up welding...
Thx Doc, i'll give the pulse spreadsheet a go, i'll have a play with the overlap on some scrap. My filler rod work is still pretty rough with a big dollop going in then running the pool along to spread it out. I think i need to have a few days just practising cos im sory of set in my ways and...
sorry for the slow reply, I suppose 130Amps for a six inch weld is going to get pretty hot, i only use about 60Amps max and my welds are rarely more than about 30-40mm so i can see why it gets so hot.
Thanks for the replies, and sorry for not getting back quicker, im welding 1 to 2mm stainless steel. Ive used 1.6mm thoriated and have just switched to ceriated and tried going down to 1.0mm to cut down on sharpening. Ive recently acquired a 2nd hand Miller Dynasty 300DX and love the pulse but...
Hi, tig welding stainless with pulse . I rarely use filler rod but am forever getting my tungsten stuck in the pool. Because the puddle seems to jump between the two pieces of metal better with a sharp point held really close it seems the best way to do it. I just get the feeling i shouldnt be...
What material, thickness and current are you welding with? Ive acquired a water cooler with a Miller maxstar and havent used it. It doesnt seem to be neccessary??
Sorry to gatecrash a thread but my question fits in. Just acquired a Miller maxstar 300DX which is working superbly. Im welding 1 to 2mm 304 stainless mostly without filler rod and using 1,0mm or 1,6mm ceriated tungstens. The pulse seems to work well. Anyone got a suggestion of a good setting...
One of the problems with the chinese products is that they seem to have a habit of copying each others cosmetics but presumably the guts often vary.
The unit is set to TIG, ive just rechecked all the obvious stuff but still need to get a stick to try the mma out.
Thx for the advice i will...

Brushed stainless
Yes we've done well with brushed stainless, a drum sander made that a lot easier and we can get invisible joins but the brushed finish marks up quite badly when used as a worksurface. The random DA type finish seems to take wear much better but im never quite satisfied with...
I make cookers
We specialise in induction hobs mainly for the commercial market http://www.controlinduction.co.uk
Last year I got fed up with paying a fortune for poorly finished stainless tables that we put the induction hobs in so based on experience as a draughtsman and my mechanical...
I read on here months ago that a pretty good welder was made for some Italian company by wing wah woo (or something like that) in China. The 'Italian' welder sold for about £1800 and so i]my friend in China bought one for me for about £500.
The welder arrived about a month ago and cos i was...
Da
Thx Shox Dr, DA is what im using now and although its a bit tricky to get a perfect 'random' result it's so much easier and cleaner than blasting that i'll stick with it.
